Supplementary Vet Training For Accreditation

In 2009, the US Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service published a ruling on the revised veterinary accreditation program, which was set to take effect on February 2010. The Vets who have enrolled in traditional and online veterinary schools will need to undergo supplemental training so that they can get accreditation.

The training is available in four modules, which is now available.  In order to be accredited, the Category I accredited vets must complete the 3 units of the supplemental training so that they renew their accreditation while the Category II vets must complete 6 units. Once they have completed these modules, they are able to print a certificate of completion. These certificates are to be retained for their records.  The training will also undergo audits periodically, and the certificate of completion will be required to renew the accreditation on the assigned date in 2013, 2014 or 2015.

Once they have completed the courses in the online veterinary schools, they can check out the APHIS approved Supplemental Training, which is available in printed and CD-ROM version. In order to get the training modules, they need to submit the Supplemental Training Materials Order form, which require the personal details, the modules they want as well as the payment information.
